~ A Note From Our Founder ~

Dr. Olasz Harken created Harken Derm's Ultimate Shield Sunscreen as a product she could confidently recommend to all her patients and professionals looking for a safe and high-quality product. Using only non-nano Zinc Oxide and non-nano Titanium Dioxide for our UV filters, our products are reef safe as well as child safe. Safe enough for children and tough enough for Olympic athletes!

Water and Sweat resistance is incredibly important for sunscreen when we are talking about protection from all the elements. We are so proud to have a product that is highly effective in staying on your skin during any outdoor activity.

This was a must when formulating our sunscreen! Zinc Oxide does an excellent job in protecting all of the UVA and UVB rays that the sun emits, and can cause harm to our skin. Titanium Dioxide also protects our skin from UVB and some UVA rays. They made a perfect pair when it comes to UV protection.

We use only Non Nano Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, ensuring that our formula will be safe. Harken Derm is gentle enough for children skin, and tough enough for Olympic sailing athletes.

Our goal was to focus on the sailing community and make sure they had a product that can withstand the constant water, without feeling heavy on the skin.

One of our main pillars involves protecting our water and oceans. The water is our playground and our life force. We need to make the proper choices to ensure future generations have the same beauty as we do.

I have focused a large amount of my professional career researching, preventing, and treating high-risk skin cancer. Sailors and outdoor athletes, especially athletes and professionals, have an increased risk of skin cancer and of early skin aging. All of those who have a passion for the outdoors under the sun know how important sun protection is and how the sun, water, and wind make your skin feel at the end of the day. I felt it too. When I talked to you about your skin, I listened. I realized that most of you struggle to find the right products or know what’s best for you. I really felt that I could help.
