Unlike other argan oils produced from nuts harvested along ocean shores which produce inferior fruits due to its relatively high salt content, Shea Terra’s argan nuts are collected from the well-protected Atlas mountain trees. The fruits in this region are large and possess a higher level of vitamin E compared to their coastal counterpart.

Due to the costly labor required to harvest and produce this precious oil, Argan oil is often diluted by producers in Morocco or by middlemen somewhere between the sale of the oil and the bottling process. These so-called argan oils often have no smell, which means it has already been highly heated, refined and deodorized. These processes denature the oil and decreases its vitamin content. Shea Terra takes pride in producing untampered argan oil that isn’t refined or deodorized. It is also freshly cold-pressed and swiftly air-freighted into the United States, ensuring that the oil retain its optimum vitamin content.

A close relative to the shea tree, the argan fruit kernel produces rich, anti-aging oil high in antioxidant vitamin E, polyunsaturated and fatty acids. Is Your Argan Oil the Real Deal?

Since high-quality argan oil is costly to source and produce, requiring hours of labor, there are lots of imitation or inferior argan oil out there. If you're paying little for your argan oil, you are probably not getting pure, high-quality argan oil.

Argan oil is commonly diluted with oils such as sunflower. Some "argan" oils have been found to not contain any argan oil at all. Argan oil is often diluted by producers in Morocco or by middlemen somewhere between the sale of the oil and the bottling process.

Despite attempts to export and grow the argan tree worldwide, Morocco is the only place in the world where the tree grows. Practically all argan oil, except ours, is produced from nuts gathered along the ocean shore of Morocco, since that's a well-established trade route for argan oil. Unfortunately, the high salt content in this region produces inferior fruits. The trees that bare our argan oil grow high in the Atlas Mountains where the fruits grow large and healthy. It has been shown that argan oil produced from the fruits in this area is much higher in vitamin E than the oil produced from the fruits along the coast.
